Keighley Cougars have announced the signing of Oliver Greensmith for the 2027 season. The player joins from Batley Bulldogs, bringing Championship-level experience to the squad being assembled by Head Coach Matt Bramald.
Greensmith is a product of Wakefield Trinity's development system and has also represented Dewsbury Rams before his move to Batley. He is comfortable playing at centre and in the second row, giving Bramald positional options as pre-season planning continues.
Coach and Management Backing
Head Coach Matt Bramald said: "I'm delighted to have Oliver joining us. His experience at this level and his ability to play in different positions will be valuable additions to the squad. He's a player I'm looking forward to working with, and I'm pleased we've been able to bring him on board. Pre-season gives us the chance to get everyone together and start building those combinations."
Head of Rugby Operations Richard Dibbin added: "Securing Oliver is another really positive step for us. He's a fantastic addition to the team Matty is building, and we're delighted he'll be wearing Cougars colours next season. He brings experience from some well-established clubs, and we're looking forward to welcoming him to Cougar Park and seeing him become part of the team."
Club Ambition for 2027
Keighley Cougars Co-Owner Kaue Garcia said: "Oliver is another exciting addition to the Cougars family, and his signing reflects the ambition and determination we have as a club heading into 2027. After what has been a challenging period for everyone connected with Keighley Cougars, we are firmly focused on building a positive future."
Garcia continued: "We want to put together a team that our supporters can be proud of, one that plays with passion, commitment and pride in the badge. Matt and Richard are working incredibly hard behind the scenes to build a competitive squad, and it's fantastic to see that work coming together. We're not just signing players; we're building a team, a culture and a club that people want to be part of."
