Keighley Cougars have secured a partnership with Pebble Wellbeing, a leading UK Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provider, to deliver mental health and emotional wellbeing support across the entire club.

The partnership came about after Pebble Wellbeing learned of mounting pressures affecting the club's owners. The club's owners, Garcia and O'Neill, have faced sustained personal abuse alongside the demands of professional club ownership. Pebble Wellbeing responded by offering immediate access to professional emotional support and counselling services.

Club-Wide Support

The wellbeing provision now extends to all club members, including management, playing staff, and non-playing staff. Keighley Cougars has described this partnership as unique within rugby league.

Recognition for Club Leadership

Garcia and O'Neill have been widely recognised for their leadership within professional sport as the only gay couple owning and running a professional sports club.

The club has expressed gratitude for Pebble Wellbeing's intervention, noting that professional emotional support for players, staff, and management is invaluable given contemporary societal pressures.
