Kaue Garcia and Ryan O'Neill have confirmed they will remain as owners of Keighley Cougars after announcing their intention to step away from the club.
The pair said they were overwhelmed by the response from supporters, sponsors, volunteers, MP Robbie Moore and the wider community since their announcement.
Why they changed their minds
Ryan O'Neill said the couple had faced attacks in recent weeks but discovered an unexpected reservoir of support within the club. He described the response from supporters in the days leading up to Sunday's game as "truly humbling".
"The messages, the phone calls, the conversations on Sunday, reminded us exactly why this club is so special," O'Neill said.
During an ITV Calendar interview, O'Neill was asked whether they had let hate win. He reflected that the supporters had shown him that loyalty and decency were stronger forces, and that they were not prepared to accept defeat on that front.
The vision ahead
O'Neill said Keighley Cougars should be about bringing people together, creating opportunities and making the town proud. He described the couple as custodians of the club rather than its sole leaders, and said the supporters had reminded them they were not carrying the responsibility alone.
"We're staying. We're fighting. And together, we're going to build something that Keighley can be proud of," O'Neill said.
